FY 2008 CIP #84 – WATER MAIN CLEANING AND LINING PROJECT:

July 24, 2009 Update:

The contractor has completed the water main cleaning and lining on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey, Kimball, Gas and Maitland Streets.  All residents and businesses have been reconnected to the newly cleaned and lined water mains.  All temporary water lines have been removed.

June 26, 2009 Update:

The newly installed hydrants on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey and Kimball Streets are scheduled to be painted during the week of June 29th. With the completion of the cleaning and lining of the water mains on Gas and Maitland Streets, the mains will be pressure tested, chlorinated and flushed.

June 19, 2009 Update:

New hydrants are scheduled to be installed on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey and Kimball Streets. All residents on Gas and Maitland Street have been connected to the temporary water mains and the cleaning and lining of the water mains will continue.

June 12, 2009 Update:

The water mains on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey and Kimball Streets have been successfully cleaned and lined. All residents have been reconnected and are back in service. Temporary water lines continue to be installed on Gas and Maitland Streets.

 

June 5, 2009 Update:

The contractor, Heitkamp, has completed the cleaning and lining of the water mains on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey and Kimball Streets. The newly cleaned mains will be flushed and tested during the week of June 8, 2009. Gas and Maitland Streets will see the installation of temporary water lines.

May 29, 2009 Update:

The contractor, Heitkamp will be lining the newly cleaned water mains on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey and Kimball Streets. New hydrants will also be installed on these streets.

May 22, 2009 Update:

The contractor, Heitkamp, has finished hooking up residents on Dunklee, Gilmore, Humphrey and Kimball Streets to the temporary water lines.  The contractor will now begin to shut down the cast iron water mains.  Once all mains are shut down, the cleaning process will begin.

 

May 15, 2009 Update:

Next week, the contractor will continue to lay out the temporary water mains.  Residents will then be connected with temporary service lines.  Once the provisional water is up and running, the cleaning and lining will begin on the water mains.

May 8, 2009 Update:

The contractor will continue laying out temporary water lines on Dunklee, Kimball, Gilmore and Humphrey Streets.  These lines will be flushed, pressure tested and chlorinated.  Residents will then be connected to the temporary water lines.

May 1, 2009 Update:

The contractor will mobilize to the south end next week.  A temporary water bypass will be installed on Dunklee (between Pillsbury and West Streets), Kimball, Humphrey and Gilmore Streets.  Traffic interruptions will be minimal.

October 24, 2008 Update:

Next week, the newly cleaned and lined water mains will be back in service, and residents’ service lines will be reconnected.

October 17, 2008 Update:

Next week, the newly cleaned and lined water mains on McKinley and Badger Streets will be back in service and reconnected to residents; the water mains on Dunklee and Morton Streets will be flushed and tested; temporary paving will occur on Dunklee, McKinley, Morton, and Badger Streets; and permanent paving will occur on Court, Montgomery, North State and Chapel Streets.

October 10, 2008 Update:

The contractor will continue cleaning and lining the water mains on Dunklee, McKinley, Morton and Badger Streets.  McKinley Street will be reconnected to the newly lined water main and tested.  The trench on Court and Montgomery Streets will be paved.

September 26, 2008 Update:

The contractor, Heitkamp, will be disconnecting the temporary water mains on Court, Montgomery, and Chapel Streets during the week of September 29th.  They will also be cleaning up the driveway ramping materials used to secure the temporary water mains.  Residents on Dunklee and McKinley Streets will be connected to temporary water mains after the mains have been pressure tested and chlorinated.  Additional temporary water mains on Badger and Morton Streets will be installed.  

September 12, 2008 Update:

Over the next two weeks, the contractor will be lining the existing 6-inch water main on Court and Montgomery Streets.  Traffic delays are anticipated.

August 29, 2008 Update:

The contractor, Heitkamp, Inc., has  started this project on North State, Court and Montgomery Streets.  All affected residents and businesses have been connected to bypass above ground water mains.  Northbound traffic on North State  Street, between Chapel and Centre Streets, will be detoured around Centre Street, to Union Street, to Washington Street and then back to North State Street.  Montgomery Street will be closed to thru traffic, open for local residents only. 

August 22, 2008 Update:

Beginning on Monday, 08/25/08 the contractor will begin to mobilize to prepare for the lining of water mains on North State, Court and Montgomery Streets.  Temporary water mains will be set in place and connected to businesses and residences in advance of the lining process.  Traffic detours and delays are anticipated.  North State Street will be impacted between Centre and Court Streets.  Flaggers will be on site to direct motorists to their destinations.  Local traffic will have access throughout the construction.

August 15, 2008 Update:

The Community Development Department, Engineering Services Division, has awarded this contract to Heitkamp Inc. from Watertown, Connecticut. This Contractor will begin water main cleaning & lining improvements construction beginning August 25th. The project will be completed in the phases as follows:

Phase I: 08/25/08 - 10/30/08: Court St., Montgomery, Morton & Badger Streets
Phase II: 09/22/08 - 11/01/08: Dunklee and McKinley Streets
Phase III: 10/27/08 - 11/25/08: Humphrey, Kimball, Gilmore, Gas & Maitland Streets

Please note: Phase III may be rescheduled until April / May 2009 depending on weather conditions. During this project, affected residents will be connected to temporary, above-groundwater service. Traffic delays are anticipated.

 

May 2008 Update:

Engineering staff is finalizing the in-house design and bid documents for the 2008 Water Main Cleaning and Lining Project. This project will commence soon after bids are open in mid-May. This project will consist of lining several mains in the south end. Phase I of this project was completed in the summer of 2006. Streets affected include Badger, Dunklee, Gas, Gilmore, Humphrey, Kimball, Maitland, Morton and Court. The estimated cost of the project is $850,000.
