CIP #85LOUDON ROAD WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT PROJECT:

September 23, 2011 Update:

This project is complete and within budget with a few minor punch list items to be addressed.

August 26, 2011 Update:

The contractor is scheduled to pave the water main trench Monday evening August 29, 2011, between the hours of 6:00 pm to 6:00, am (rain date Tuesday evening August 30, 2011). This work will begin at Hazen Drive and proceed throughout the night to East Side Drive in 300 foot sections. The two west (in- bound) lanes will be closed to traffic. Traffic entering the city will do so in the two east (out-bound) lanes. Traffic leaving the city will be detoured to Blodgett Street to Pembroke Road to Canterbury Road. Traffic delays are expected.

August 19, 2011 Update

The contractor is scheduled to install base pavement  on  Loudon Road Sunday evening starting at 6:00 PM from Hazen Drive to East Side Drive.  During the evening, the paving vehicles will occupy a 300 foot section of the 2 west bound lanes as they progress from Hazen Drive to East Side Drive. West bound traffic will occupy the 2 east bound lanes. East bound traffic will be detoured on to Blodgett Street to Pembroke Road to Canterbury Road. We are hoping to complete this by Monday morning. The rest of the week will focus on raising sewer manholes covers and valve boxes to grade.  Disturbed grass areas will be loamed and seeded. Traffic delays are expected. Travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

August 12, 2011 Update:

The contractor will continue to connect water services and side streets to the newly installed water main. The temporary water lines will be removed. Paving of the trenches on Loudon Road also continues. On Sunday, August 14th, the contractor will not start work until midnight, due to anticipated traffic from the Indy Car Race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. The water will be shut off on Canterbury Road starting at 10:00 pm on Monday, 08/15/11 until 6:00 am on Tuesday, 08/16/11. All affected residents and businesses have been notified. Motorist should continue to expect delays and seek an alternate route if possible.

August 5, 2011 Update:

The contractor will continue night work to connect water services and side streets to the newly installed water main. The water main on Burns Avenue will be shut off on Monday August 8, 2011 at 9:00 pm to 5:00 am on Tuesday, August 9, 2011. All affected residences have been notified. Binder and finish pavement of the trenches on the south side of Loudon Road will continue. Traffic delays are expected and travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

July 29, 2011 Update:

The contractor continues to connect side streets and water services to the new main. If scheduling permits, the contractor will start to install base and finish pavement today in cross trenches on the north and south sides of the street, with paving of the cross trenches extending into the early afternoon hours. Traffic delays are anticipated.

July 22, 2011 Update:

The water main will be shut off on Ormond Street on Sunday, July 24th starting at 9:00 pm to 6:00 am on Monday, July 25th. All affected residences have been notified. Then work will continue connecting services over to new water main. The contractor is also scheduled to start lowering manhole structures and valve boxes. If the schedule allows, there could also be some base paving of the services trenches. Traffic delays are expected, and travelers are encouraged to seek an alternate route.

July 15, 2011 Update:

The contractor will continue connecting individual water services to the newly installed water main. Due to the Nascar Race, the contractor will not be working on Sunday night, 07/17/11.

July 1, 2011 Update:

The contractor will not be working on Sunday or Monday evenings July 3rd & July 4th do to the Independence Day HolidayWhen work resumes, the focus will continue on connecting individual water services to the new main. Traffic delays are anticipated.

June 24, 2011 Update:

Next week will focus on connecting individual water services to the new main. Traffic delays are anticipated. The contractor will not work on Monday evening July 4th do to the fireworks celebration (rain date will be July 5th).

June 10, 2011 Update:

Next week the contractor will continue installing services along Loudon Road and time permitting may continue the main replacement in front of the Apple Buffet.

May 27, 2011 Update:

Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the contractor will not work on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Construction will continue on Monday, May 30, 2001 from 7 pm – 7 am. Work will focus on connecting individual services to the new water main. All affected properties will be notified in advance. Traffic delays are to be expected and travelers are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

May 20, 2011 Update:

The contractor has competed installing the new 12 inch main from Sherwin Williams to East Side Drive. Beginning Sunday evening and continuing through next week the contractor will be installing the main across East Side Drive on Loudon Road. The intersection will be operating on Flash and traffic detours will be in place. Traffic delays are anticipated.

May 6, 2011 Update:

The continuation of the 2010 Loudon Road Water Main Project is set to resume on Sunday May 15, 2011. Construction will occur at night from 7 pm – 7 am, Sunday through Thursday. The contractor will not work Sunday evening May 29, 2011 in observation of Memorial Day. Last fall the contractor completed the installation of a new 12 inch water main from Hazen Drive to Friendly’s. Over the next few months the contractor will continue the installation of the new main along the north side of Loudon Road, ending at the Apple Buffet. The project is scheduled for completion in mid July 2011. In general, traffic will be detoured similar to last fall. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the south side of Loudon Road during the scheduled work hours. Non work hours will resume the normal traffic pattern on Loudon Road.

December 3, 2010 Update:

L. Merrill has completed installing the new 12 inch water main from Airport Road to Walgreens. The project is shut down for the winter. In early spring we will continue installing the new main through the intersection of East Side Drive then begin to replace all of the individual services. We anticipate work to continue through June 2011.

November 24, 2010 Update:

The contractor continues to install the new water main along Loudon Road. Work at this point will be in the vicinity of Walgreens at Canterbury Road. Lane reductions will be in affect in this area. The traffic signals at the East Side Drive / Loudon Road intersection will be in flash mode at times, (between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m.). Due to the one-lane of travel in each direction during construction, delays are anticipated and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Due to the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday, there will be no work on November 24 & 25, 2010. The contractor will be on-site for miscellaneous cleanup the week after the holiday. No full-lane closures are anticipated at this time.

Day time paving may occur the week of November 29, 2010 on Loudon Road between the Fire Station and Walgreens between the hours of 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM, weather permitting. F L Merrill will be placing base pavement in the water trench located in the most northerly west bound lane to secure the trench over winter. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction. Delays are anticipated. The message boards will display the the exact day one day in advance.

November 19, 2010 Update:

The contractor continues to install the new water main along Loudon Road. Work at this point will be in the vicinity of Walgreens at East Side Drive. Lane reductions will be in affect in this area. No full-lane closures are anticipated at this time.

November 5, 2010 Update

CIP#85 - Loudon Road Water Main Replacement Project - The contractor continues to install the new water main on Loudon Road. Work should conclude this week at Papa Gino's Restaurant, 129 Loudon Road. During the week of November 7 - 11, 2010, work will continue and is expected to to reach the Rowley Insurance Agency at 139 Loudon Road. Traffic will continue to be restricted to one lane in each direction and alternative routes are advised.

October 29, 2010 Update:

The contractor continues to install new water main on Loudon Road, east of Hazen Drive. The week of November 1 they will be working between Ormond Street and the Heights Fire Station. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction and drivers should expect delays and seek alternative routes if possible.

October 22, 2010 Update:

Loudon Road Water Main Replacement Project - The contractor continues to install new water main on Loudon Road, east of Hazen Drive. The week of October 25 they will be working between Prescott Park Office Complex (106 Loudon Road) and Ormond Street. Traffic is restricted to one lane in each direction and alternative routes are advised.

October 8, 2010 Update:

The night work on Loudon Road continues. Last week we installed approximately 400 feet of water main between Hazen Drive and Dunkin Donuts. This week the work area will focus between Dunkin Donuts and the Mobil Station. Traffic is reduced to one lane in each direction between Hazen Drive and the 7 Eleven.

October 1, 2010 Update:

The contractor will remobilize on Loudon Road commencing at Hazen Drive on Sunday Oct 2nd at 7:00 PM.  Loudon Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the east bound side of the road from Hazen Drive to the 7 ELEVEN. The SPEED Limit through the work zone will be reduced to 15 mph.

September 24, 2010 Update:

The contractor F. L. Merrill, Inc. mobilized on Loudon Road on Monday evening. The week was spent preparing the north side of the road for the main replacement to begin next week. Sunday evening crews will focus on a valve replacement located on the north east slip ramp to Hazen Drive. The rest of the week will focus on main replacement heading easterly. PLEASE USE CAUTION when traveling on Loudon Road between East Side Drive and Hazen Drive during the hours of 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM.

September 10, 2010 Update:

The contractor, F. L. Merrill Construction, Inc. is scheduled to start work on this project on Monday, 09/20/10. Work will occur between the hours of 7pm - 7am. Work the following week will be Sunday - Thursday and continue with that schedule for the duration of the project. Work will start at Hazen Drive and proceed east to Burns Avenue. Traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction during the work hours. Motorists are to expects delays and seek alternate routes if possible.

July 16, 2010 Update:

A neighborhood meeting was held on July 14, 2010 at the Immaculate Heart of Mary on Loudon Road to brief residents and businesses on the upcoming water main replacement project, The existing 8"water main on Loudon Road from Airport Road to East Side Drive will be replaced with a new 12" main. We anticipate work to commence in mid August and be completed in June 2011 with a winter shutdown. Work will occur at night from Sunday- Thursday  7:00 PM to 7:00 AM to minimize disruption to the traveling public and abutting businesses. The meeting was attended by several local residents and business representatives along with Councilor's Pattern and Bouchard.
