CIP35 – US Route 3 Corridor North – Phase III -– Project Update:

February 3, 2012 Update:

Work continues on the culvert rehabilitation in the vicinity of the NH State Prison/Palm Street along North State Street. Crews continue to evaluate the existing stone masonry culvert and prepare the walls and floors for grout sealing and Shotcrete surfacing. This trenchless culvert restoration work is expected to continue through February. No traffic delays are expected along North State Street.  

January 27, 2012 Update:

Work continues on the Culvert Rehabilitation Project on North State Street, just north of the State Prison.  Next week the contactor will concentrate on water control and preliminary Shotcrete applications for stabilization. No traffic delays are expected

December 9, 2011 Update:

All major construction items have been completed for the season on the North State Street corridor. Next week the contractor will be addressing street sign installations and clean-up. Minor delays should be expected from Hillcrest Avenue to the NH State Prison. We would like to thank the residents and businesses of the corridor, commuters, pedestrians, and cyclists for their patience and input on the project. Your continued feedback helps the City and the contractor make the end result of the construction the best it can be for all. We look forward to an early spring continuation of the rehabilitation effort of the Route 3 Corridor.

December 2, 2011 Update:

Work on the Route 3 corridor nears completion for the season. The contractor continues to focus on housekeeping and punch list items. Delays next week will be minor, but should be expected as clean-up work will be occurring from Dolan Street to the NH State Prison.

November 23, 2011 Update:

With the work completed over the course of the short holiday week, all that remains to be completed on North State Street are street sign installations, miscellaneous clean up items, loam placement and stabilization. These final tasks will occur next week, from Hillcrest Avenue to the NH State Prison. Minor traffic delays are to be expected.

November 18, 2011 Update:

The construction season is rapidly winding down and the Route 3 corridor project is coming closer to seasonal winter shutdown. Next week, work will entail paving of the sidewalk, raising utility castings, placing loam, and miscellaneous clean-up efforts. These activities will be taking place on North State Street, from the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility to the NH State Prison. The contractor will be working only Monday through Wednesday, due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.

November 10, 2011 Update:

Installation of the vertical granite street curbing was delayed this past week. Instead, the contractor addressed unfinished work north of the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance facility (COMF) and striped the newly placed pavement. Next week, the curbing will be installed and driveway aprons will be removed, graded to the new asphalt road surface, and base paved. This work will require one-lane traffic conditions. Delays are to be expected.

November 4, 2011 Update:

Despite the early snow storm, the contractor perseveres with the reconstruction of North State Street. With base pavement placed on the main line, efforts next week will consist of installation of the vertical granite street curbing. As with past weeks, work will be occurring on North State Street, from the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility to the NH State Prison. One-lane traffic conditions will persist in this area, with traffic delays to be expected.

October 28, 2011 Update:

The excavation of the road box nears conclusion on North State Street We expect finalizing the excavation and placement of select gravels early next week. Once this work is accomplished, the contractor will begin fine grading and preparing the new road base for paving. Construction will continue on North State Street, from the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility to the NH State Prison. Traffic conditions will continue to be alternating one lane in this area with major delays to be expected. As the fall weather can be volatile, base paving schedule will be announced via the on-site message boards. We expect paving operations will transpire during the latter part of next week. October 21, 2011 Update:

The storm sewer infrastructure installation is now complete and the excavation of the road box is underway. The contractor has opted to begin in the south bound lane and move south towards the NH State Prison. Once this lane is complete, the construction will shift to the northbound lane. Work will be occurring from the City’s Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility to the State Prison. One-lane traffic diversions will be in place daily in this area and major traffic delays are to be expected during this phase of the construction.

October 14, 2011 Update:

Replacement of the existing storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street, between the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility (COMF) and the New Hampshire State Prison, is proceeding on schedule and should conclude next week, weather permitting. One lane traffic conditions will persist in this area and delays to be anticipated.

Accompanying the conclusion of utility improvements, the contractor will shift focus to reconstruction of the road itself. As in the past, the asphalt pavement, foundational concrete slab and existing earthen materials will be removed and replaced with select road base gravels. Major traffic delays are unavoidable during this phase of construction and the public is encouraged to seek an alternate route if possible.

October 7, 2011 Update:

Removal and replacement of the existing storm sewer system continues next week in North State Street; from the N.H. State Prison facility to the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility (COMF). Work is progressing slowly due to the presence of granite boulders and ledge, coupled with the myriad of existing underground utilities. Placement of select gravels for the sidewalk, from Dolan Street to the COMF, will be nearing completion next week. Paving of the walk and placement of loam should be occurring next week in this area, along with miscellaneous clean-up efforts. One-lane traffic conditions will be in effect next week and delays are to be expected in the aforementioned areas.

September 30, 2011 Update:

The vertical granite street curbing was successfully installed on North State Street last week and drainage pipe work began in the vicinity of the NH State Prison facility. Next week, the contractor will continue storm sewer pipe replacement along North State, from the NH State Prison to the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility (COMF). Additionally, the masonry subcontractor will be on-site raising utility castings, this work will occur in North State Street; from Dolan Street to the COMF. One-lane traffic conditions will be in place at both locations and delays are to be expected. We thank the public for their patience during construction delays.

September 23, 2011 Update:

Due to the rain last week, the base paving was not placed as scheduled. The last lift of base pavement has now been completed. The weather has set our schedule back and may continue to do so next week. The contractor plans to attempt to install the vertical granite street curbing and raise utility castings on North State Street; from the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility (COMF) to Dolan Street. Travel will be restricted to one lane during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Delays should be expected in this area. Replacement of existing storm sewer pipe will begin anew next week as well, rain or shine. This work will be taking place in North State Street; from the COMF to the N.H. State Prison facility. One-lane traffic will be in place at this location as well and major delays are to be expected. The public is encouraged to seek an alternate route whenever possible.

September 16, 2011 Update

After the completion of base pavement this week, the contractor will now focus efforts on installation of guardrail, vertical granite street curbing, and construction of sidewalk on North State Street. This work will be transpiring in the area of the Hood milk plant; Dolan Street to the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility. Traffic delays continue in this area, as one-lane traffic conditions will persist during these operations.

September 9, 2011 Update:

Despite the inclement weather, the contractor perseveres with the excavation of the road box in North State Street. The rain has hampered efforts slightly, but we still intend to fine grade the recently placed crushed gravel and base pave next week. This work will occur on North State Street; from Dolan Street to the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility, just north of the State Prison. Major traffic disruptions should be expected next week and we encourage all to seek an alternate route, where possible. Due to the volatility of the weather, paving schedule will be announced via the on-site message boards, but we tentatively expect either Wednesday or Thursday of next week.

September 2, 2011 Update:

Work on the subgrade and placement of select gravels on North State Street is progressing well. As of today, the south bound lane is complete from Dolan Street to the COMF. Next week, work will entail the same procedure in the north bound lane in this same area. One-lane traffic conditions will persist and major traffic disruptions should be anticipated during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. In honor of the Labor Day Holiday, and to comply with City ordinances, the contractor will suspend operations on Monday 09/05/11. If weather continues to cooperate, the contractor anticipates that base paving will occur mid-September timeframe. August 26, 2011 Update:

The contractor has completed the pipe work phase in the section of North State Street, from Dolan Street to the City's Combined Operations and Maintenance Facility (COMF). Next week, work will consist of removal of the remaining asphalt pavement, underlying concrete slab and subgrade. Once the existing materials are removed, placement of select gravels and grading will occur. This construction will be taking place in the aforementioned area. Major traffic delays are to be expected as one-lane conditions will persist. Commuters are urged to seek alternate routes whenever possible.

August 19, 2011 Update:

Work on the North State Street corridor drainage improvements continue next week, construction will still be taking place along the frontage of the H. P. Hood plant. Pipe installation should be completed next week, one-lane traffic conditions will persist in this area and major traffic delays are to be expected. The contractor expects to pave sidewalks at the Rattlesnake Brook as well as Hillcrest Avenue to Dolan Street.

We would like to take this opportunity to respectfully request that while in queue during delays that motorists do not block driveway access to residences, business or commercial sites along the corridor. Signs have been placed at critical driveways that cannot be blocked, i.e. the New Hampshire State Prison facility located at #312/314 North State Street. Thank you for your courtesy during often frustrating delays to commuting.

August 12, 2011 Update:

The contractor continues to focus upon installation of new drainage facilities, pipe work will continue in North State Street along the frontage of the H. P. Hood plant. Traffic delays should be expected in this area as one-lane traffic conditions will continue during this phase of construction. Work in the base paved section; Hillcrest Avenue to Dolan Street, is substantially complete, minor clean up tasks will be executed next week in this area with minimal traffic delays anticipated. At the Rattlesnake Brook site, vertical granite curb has been set and we expect that sidewalk construction will begin as soon as possible. Traffic will be restricted to one-lane at this site as well; minor delays should be expected between Lake Street and Knight Street.

August 5, 2011 Update:

The replacement of the existing storm sewer infrastructure continues in North State Street near the H. P. Hood facility. One-lane traffic conditions will persist in this area and major delays are to be expected. Construction in the base paved section, Hillcrest Avenue to Dolan Street, is finishing up rapidly. We expect to be placing concrete tip downs, sidewalk finish pavement and road striping shortly. With the completion of the Rattlesnake Brook culvert crossing, our road contractor will soon be mobilizing to that area to complete curb and sidewalk construction. This work will require one-lane traffic, with minor delays to be expected between Knight Street and Lake Street.

July 28, 2011 Update:

Work continues to progress on the replacement of the storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street, located at the H. P. Hood plant. Installation of new reinforced concrete pipe will continue at this location next week. One lane traffic conditions will persist and commuters can expect major delays. Granite curb has been installed and utility castings raised in the base paved section; from Dolan Street to Hillcrest Avenue. Work next week will focus on completion of the sidewalk, loam placement and general clean up. Minor delays in this area should be expected.

July 22, 2011 Update:

Work on the replacement of the granite box culvert, just north of H.P. Hood has commenced and the contractor will be installing new storm sewer pipe in this area over the course of the next few weeks. One-lane traffic conditions will persist in this area, and major delays to traffic are to be expected. Work in the section of North State Street; from Hillcrest Avenue to Dolan Street will consist of paving sidewalk and miscellaneous clean up efforts, as weather allows. Thank you for your patience as we prosecute this much needed reconstruction of aging infrastructure.

July 15, 2011 Update:

Next week the contractor will be undertaking the replacement of an existing stone box culvert in North State Street, located just north of H.P. Hood. One-lane conditions will be in effect and major traffic delays are to be expected between the Hood plant and Dolan Street. We encourage all to seek an alternate route, if possible. In other news, masonry and granite curb subcontractors are expected to be completing work in North State Street, from Hillcrest Avenue and Dolan Street as well.

July 8, 2011 Update:

With granite curbing installation nearing completion, the contractor will begin reconstructing the sidewalk and driveway aprons along the east side of North State Street. In the midst of this work, we hope to have the masonry subcontractor raising manhole and catch basin frames to base grade. Work will be occurring between Hillcrest Avenue and Dolan Street, single lane closures should be expected in this area, with minor traffic delays anticipated. Replacement of existing storm sewer infrastructure will begin anew next week as well. This work will be taking place in North State Street, from Engel Street to Hillcrest Avenue, and including Hillcrest Avenue. One-lane traffic conditions will also persist in this area. 

July 1, 2011 Update:

With the base pavement completed on North State Street, the contractor will now shift operations to the installation of granite curbing and raising catch basins, manhole covers and water valves. Work will still be taking place on North State Street; from Hillcrest Avenue to Dolan Street. One-lane traffic conditions will continue during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is advised that traffic delays will continue and to seek an alternate route whenever possible. Thank you for your continued patience during these much needed road improvements.

June 24, 2011 Update:

Due to inclement weather conditions this past week, the planned base paving of North State Street has been pushed to next week. The contractor plans to begin fine grading the road on Monday, June 27th, with a planned mid-week paving operation. This work will occur on North State Street between Hillcrest Avenue and Dolan Street. Major traffic delays are to be expected during the pavement operations, the public is encouraged to seek alternate routes. Please stay tuned to the on-site message boards for further details.

June 17, 2011 Update:

The contractor has completed road box excavation on North State Street, work next week will include setting new road grades and fine grading of then recently placed recycled asphalt processed crushed gravel. This work will begin early next week, between Hillcrest Avenue and Dolan Street. One-lane traffic will persist in this area and delays are to be expected. If the weather cooperates, we are tentatively scheduled to place the base pavement courses in the aforementioned area at the end of next week. Major traffic delays are to be expected during paving operations. Please stay tuned to the on-site message boards for forthcoming details.

June 10, 2010 Update:

Roadway reconstruction continues this week through next along the southbound section of North State Street between Dolan Street and Hillcrest Avenue. As a look ahead, we expect to base pave that section of roadway during the week of June 20th. Traffic delays are to be expected during the work. Additionally, the replacement of the Rattlesnake Brook culvert just south of Knight Street will resume during the week of June 13th. The culvert replacement is expected to take about 4 weeks to complete. Generally two-lanes of traffic will be maintained through the work area but one-lane traffic is expected at times during certain work. The public is encouraged to seek alternate routes to reduce delay in your commute.

June 3, 2011 Update:

Excavation of the road box is underway on North State Street, construction will be taking place between Dolan Street and Hillcrest Avenue. As this work requires heavy trucking of road base materials, the traffic delays are exacerbated. Major delays are to be expected in this area and commuters are urged to seek an alternate route, if possible.

May 27, 2011 Update:

The replacement of the existing storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street has been completed from Dolan Street to Hillcrest Avenue. The contractor will now focus efforts on removal of the remaining asphalt pavement, underlying concrete slab and sub grade. As sections are removed, the new gravel coarses will be placed, compacted and graded. Work will be suspended for the Memorial Day holiday on Monday, May 30th. Construction will resume on Tuesday, May 31st and will be occurring on North State Street, from Dolan Street to Hillcrest Avenue. Major delays to traffic should be expected in this area.

May 20, 2011 Update:

Despite the inclement weather, the contactor continues installation of the new 30" reinforced concrete storm sewer replacing the existing granite box culvert. Road work will continue in North State Street; from Dolan Street to Abbottville Road. Alternating one-lane traffic will persist in this area and delays are to be expected. Due to the rain, placement of concrete tip downs has been delayed; we hope to complete this work next week. Landscaping at the Lake Street bus turnout has been completed and the historic granite watering trough relocated back to the site along with decorative fencing at the brick structure that once served as the water source. In lieu of placing loam and seed on the slopes at Lake Street, we have opted to place bark mulch produced from the chippings created when the City removes street trees. This is another step in our continued commitment to creating a sustainable landscape while promoting reuse of existing materials.

May 13, 2011 Update:

Drainage construction replacing an existing stone box culvert that emptied onto property located at #356 North State Street has commenced. The contractor is installing new 30" reinforced concrete pipe from the newly placed precast concrete headwall, westerly into North State Street to connect to an existing stone box culvert draining from Dolan Street. Work will move from the driveway into North State Street next week, one-lane traffic conditions and commuting delays should be expected between Dolan Street and Abbottville Road. The contractor also is planning to place concrete tipdown ramps, raise drain manhole covers, seed newly placed loam and continue clean up efforts on North State Street, from Lake Street to Hillcrest Avenue. Minor delays are to be expected in this area as well.

May 6, 2011 Update:

Work on the new storm sewer infrastructure continues to progress on North State Street, construction will continue in the area from Dolan Street to Hillcrest Avenue. As with weeks past, one-lane traffic conditions will continue and delays are to be expected. Base paving of sidewalk and driveways has occurred in the area from Project Second Start to Hillcrest Avenue. Crews will be placing loam in the grass panel and the finish pavement and tipdown ramps will be placed as time and weather allow.

April 29, 2010 Update:

Construction of the 42" reinforced concrete culvert crossing and the mechanically stabilized earth retaining wall at Swenson Granite is complete. Work will still be taking place in North State Street; from Dolan Street to Hillcrest Avenue as efforts will now shift to placement of the new catch basin structures and side street connections into the new 24" reinforced concrete trunk line. One-lane traffic conditions will continue throughout next week and delays are to be expected in this area.

April 22, 2011 Update:

Work on the removal and replacement of the existing storm sewer infrastructure continues next week. The contractor continues to focus efforts on the drainage system in North State Street; between Dolan Street and Hillcrest Avenue. The complexity of the work and proximity of other utilities requires slow methodical excavation, thereby increasing the time it takes to safely install new pipe and structures. As with weeks past, commuters should expect significant delays in the area of operation. Work on the reconstruction of the sidewalk; from Project Second Start to Hillcrest Avenue, will continue next week as well. Fine grading of the walk, driveway reconstruction, paving and cleanup efforts will be taking place in this area.

April 15, 2011 Update:

The contractor continues focus upon removal and replacement of the existing storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street. Construction will continue in the area between Dolan Street and Hillcrest Avenue, one lane traffic conditions will continue to be in effect during hours of operation; typically 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is encouraged to seek alternate routes as delays should be expected to be encountered in this area.

April 8, 2011 Update:

During the upcoming week, the contractor will continue installation of the new storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street. Work will persist in the area between Abbottville Road and Hillcrest Avenue, daily lane closures will be in place, delays are to be expected. The sidewalk from Project Second Start to Hillcrest Avenue has been graveled and rough graded. As time and resources allow, the contractor will be cleaning this area up and preparing for completion of the sidewalk, grass panels and walkways to residences.

April 1, 2011 Update:

Work on the replacement of the existing storm sewer in North State Street continues next week. Construction will be taking place between Abbottville Road and Hillcrest Avenue. The contactor also is working on reconstruction of the sidewalk and grass panel on the east side of North State Street in the vicinity of Second Start School to Hillcrest Avenue. Travel lanes will be restricted to one-lane alternating traffic. Delays are to be expected in the aforementioned areas.

March 25, 2010 Update:

Despite the inclement weather, the contractor has begun the installation of the new storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street. Work began at Swenson Granite and will continue to progress north to Hillcrest Avenue. One lane traffic restrictions will be in place daily in this area, delays are to be expected. We encourage commuters to seek alternate routes if possible.

March 18, 2011 Update:

With the recent arrival of spring weather, we welcome back our contractor Continental Paving, Inc. for the continuation of the third phase of the Route 3 Corridor Reconstruction project. The contractor plans to mobilize equipment and resume removal and replacement of the existing storm sewer infrastructure in North State Street on Monday, March 21, 2011. Work will be taking place between Dolan Street and Hillcrest Avenue, one lane traffic conditions are to be expected daily in the area of operation. The City's variable message boards have been deployed to notify the public of this undertaking. Please stay tuned to the on-site message boards or  www.concordnh.gov for construction updates.

December 3, 2010 Update:

With the arrival of colder temperatures, the Route 3 reconstruction project is set to wind down for the impending winter months. The vertical granite street curbing has been installed and base paved, and driveway aprons have been temporarily paved for the winter. The contractor will focus efforts next week on clean up items and street sign installations. Work will be taking place on North State Street; from Hillcrest Avenue to Lake St. Minor delays are to be expected in this area. Thank you to all the residents, commuters, pedestrians and cyclists for your participation and patience during this rapidly ending construction season. We look forward to resuming work during the spring of 2011 with the continued rehabilitation of a deteriorated arterial street.

November 24, 2010 Update:

With the completion of the base course pavement, the contractor will now begin the installation of vertical granite street curbing. This work will be taking place on North State Street; from Second Start School to Hillcrest Avenue. Expect delays in this area, as one-lane traffic conditions will persist throughout this phase of the work.

November 19, 2010 Update:

The road box excavation is complete for the season on the North State Street corridor. The contractor has been fine grading the recently placed recycled crushed gravel in preparation for the binder course pavements. We anticipate paving to occur Friday, 11-19-10 on North State Street, between Hillcrest Avenue and Second Start School. Please stay tuned to the onsite message boards for further details. Major traffic delays are to be expected during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Next week, installation of vertical granite curbing will be occurring in the base paved section of North State Street. One-lane traffic conditions will persist during this construction and delays should be expected. The contractor will be working only Monday through Wednesday and observing the Thursday / Friday Thanksgiving Holiday.

The placement of the final wearing course pavement on North State Street / Fisherville Road, from Hutchins Street to just north of Sewalls Falls Road, is complete. Road box excavation continues next week on North State Street, from Hillcrest Avenue to just north of Lake Street. Work has been substantially completed on the south bound lane, the contractor will now shift focus to the north bound lane. One lane traffic conditions will persist in this area during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Major delays to traffic flow are to be expected, we encourage the public to seek alternate routes if possible.

The seasonably cooler temperatures have impeded our schedule for placement of the final wearing course pavement on the Phase II base paved section of North State Street. This area has been prepared and is ready for pavement, please use caution as the manhole castings have been raised. If temperatures cooperate, we hope to finish pave this section of Route 3, from Hutchins Street north to Aranco Oil next week. Please see the on-site message boards for firmer timetables.

October 29, 2010 Update:

The construction of the new storm sewer infrastructure is complete on the North State Street corridor. The next phase of the work will begin next week. A portable crushing plant has been mobilized to the Abbott Road pit to begin the recycling of the previously removed concrete slab and asphalt pavements. These materials will be crushed and blended to form the new gravel base courses to be placed in North State Street. These efforts not only save the City monetarily, but further reinforce our commitment to the environment by reusing existing materials.

The road box excavation will commence in North State Street on Monday, starting at Hillcrest Avenue and proceeding north to Second Start School, just north of Lake Street. This work will entail the removal of the remaining pavement and underlying materials, placement of the new gravel courses, compaction and grading. Major traffic delays are to be expected in this area as one lane traffic conditions will persist throughout the duration of the work. The public is encouraged to seek alternate routes during hours of operation, typically 7 a.m. through 6 p.m.

Our contractor is preparing last seasons base paved section, from south of Sylvester Street to Hutchins Street, for the placement of the final wearing course pavement and pavement markings. This work, if the weather cooperates, may be taking place next week as well. October 22, 2010 Update:

The contractor has brought a second pipe crew to the site in order to expedite new storm sewer infrastructure construction. The pipe work next week will be taking place in North State Street, from K Street to Engel Street. One lane traffic conditions will persist daily in the aforementioned area, and delays are to be expected. Your patience is appreciated during this phase of the construction.

National Grid and their contractor, R H White, are scheduled to complete gas main connections for both Lake and Clarke Streets next week as well. This work is anticipated to take most of the week to accomplish and delays are to be expected in the area of North State Street and Lake / Clarke Streets.

October 15, 2010 Update:

Next week the contractor will be completing the new storm sewer infrastructure construction at the intersection of North State Street and Lake / Clarke Street. With the finalization of this area, we will be moving south to the intersection of North State Street and Hillcrest Avenue to begin anew. This work will entail removal and replacement of the storm sewer pipe and structures along the center and edges of North State Street northerly to K Street. October 1, 2010 Update:

Work continues on the new storm sewer infrastructure upgrades in the intersection of North State Street and Clarke / Lake Street. The progress has been slow due to the complexity of deep excavation adjacent to existing utilities, large pipe installation, and the presence of granite boulders and ledge. We expect another two weeks to complete the drainage in this intersection. Traffic will continue to be restricted to one-lane during hours of operation; typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Delays are to be expected and the public is encouraged to seek alternate routes whenever possible. September 24, 2010 Update:

Work continues to progress slowly on the removal of the existing granite box culvert and installation of the new reinforced concrete storm sewer trunk line in North State Street at Lake Street. The work has progressed from the east to the west side of the street, with the first of two road crossings completed. Next week the contractor expects to begin the second road crossing at the intersection. Traffic will continue to be restricted to one lane during hours of operation; typically from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The public is advised to seek alternate routes, if possible.

September 17, 2010 Update:

Next week the contractor will continue installation of the new 30" concrete storm drain trunk line in North State Street at the Lake Street intersection while removing the existing granite box culvert. Due to the complexity, depth and pipe size; work is proceeding slowly and we expect to be in this intersection for approximately another two weeks. Traffic will be restricted to one-lane during the hours of operation; typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. the public is advised to expect delays in this area and to seek alternate routes if possible.

September 10, 2010 Update:

Work on CIP 35, the North State St. corridor resumed Tuesday, September 7th. The contractor has begun the replacement of an existing stone box culvert in Clarke Street with a new 30" reinforced concrete pipe to act as the new storm sewer trunk line serving the North State and Lake Street area. The construction will continue into North State Street itself next week with a full road crossing scheduled at the aforementioned intersection. Due to the nature of this work, traffic will be restricted to one-lane during hours of operation; typically 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Delays are to be expected and the public is encouraged to seek alternate routes, if possible. August 27, 2010 Update:

After a brief hiatus for the bidding process to occur, Engineering Services Division is pleased to announce that the CIP 35, US Route 3 North State Street reconstruction project is to resume. Staff hosted a preconstruction conference on Monday outlining the details of the third phase of the project (Lake Street to Palm Street). Continental Paving Inc. is the selected contractor and reports a project start date of Tuesday, September 7th. The contractor expects to begin the preliminary work; setup the project office, initiate the traffic control plan and layout the improvement areas during the week of August 30th. Major construction efforts will begin in earnest the week of Sept. 6th (No work will occur on Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday). Please stay abreast of construction schedules and details with the on-site message boards.
