Select a Database
After selecting All EBSCOhost Resources, a list of databases
will be on the screen, with a brief description for each one. To search
only one database, click on the database name. To select more than one
database to search, check the box next to each database you want to search and
click on the Continue button which is located at the top or bottom of the
screen.
Select a Search Method
The basic search interface is similar for each database. The top of
the screen shows navigation choices, including basic search, advanced search,
choose databases, and select another EBSCO service. These buttons
facilitate using EBSCOhost.
Basic Search is the default search, and is automatically
displayed. The name(s) of the selected database is shown above a FIND: dialog
box that has a search button beside it. A brief explanation about searching
is present, with a link to search tips. Below this is a place to limit or
expand a search by date, full text, or other conditions. To search, type
your subject or keyword in the find box and click search.
Advanced Search offers multiple text boxes, Boolean operators,
searchable fields, and various search options that allow creation of a
well-focused search. There is a link to search tips for formulating a
search. There is also a button to click on for your search history.
Results Page
The Results page displays the hits for the search in chronological
order, most recent first. The title of the article is displayed in blue
and is underlined. Bibliographic information is included next to the
title. An HTML Full Text icon or a PDF Full Text icon is
shown when the full text of the article is available. A column on the
right allows you to add articles to a folder for later printing or
e-mailing. A Refine Search button is also available for use on the
results page.
Printing or E-mailing Options
It is possible to print or e-mail articles. After selecting the
article you want to print, click on the Print button. This page
will have a print button and an estimate number of pages button. Click on
the print button to print the article. The Estimate Number of Pages link
lets you know approximately how many pages will print. If you prefer to
e-mail the articles, click on the E-mail button and follow the
directions. You may also save to a disk by clicking on the Save button.
