Overnight Parking and Parking Bans - Police Department - City of Concord NH

Overnight Parking

**OVERNIGHT PARKING NOTICE**

Overnight ParkingIn an effort to better serve residents living in portions of Wards 4 and 6, please be advised that effective November 1, 2008, on-street overnight parking will be permitted within the area of these Wards described on the attached Downtown Overnight Parking Area Map (without advance permission from the City Police Department).  You may not park within the area shown on the map during a Winter Storm Event Parking Ban. Winter Maintenance Parking Bans for downtown snow removal or Emergency Parking Bans may affect this area as well as other neighborhoods of the city.  Please review the Winter Maintenance Street Listing Map for the winter maintenance parking ban. On-street overnight parking in all other areas of the City outside of this district remains strictly prohibited without prior approval of the Concord Police Department.

As you may have recently read in the Concord Monitor, this is a temporary, experimental program which will continue through October 31, 2010.  Depending on the success of this experiment, the City Council may decide to make the program permanent on or before its expiration in 2010.

On-street parking is limited to those spaces where parking is legally permitted during the daytime.   All vehicles must be off the street during periods when winter, maintenance, or other emergency parking bans are declared.  Commercial or recreational vehicles (such as boats, campers, RVs, trailers, etc.) cannot park on the street during overnight periods.  In addition, no vehicle may be parked in the same location for longer than 48 consecutive hours.

Notification of Parking Bans:  Winter Parking Bans will last from 12:00 Midnight through 7:00 AM and will be advertised on the City website:  www.concordnh.gov and on Concord Television Channel 17.  In addition, the City will provide notice of Winter Parking Bans to local media outlets, but cannot guarantee that the Ban will be advertised.

Note:  Concord Television will no longer be able to notify residents of winter parking bans via last year's method of text and e-mail messages.  However, they will now be able to notify you via Twitter.  If you are interested in receiving Downtown Concord Winter Weather Parking Ban notifications via e-mail or text message through Twitter, you need to sign up for the service by going to:   ConcordTVAlerts Twitter

If you don't have a Twitter page, or if you need assistance signing up to receive Concord TV alerts on your cell phone, you can follow their instruction guide which will be available soon on their website at:  www.yourconcordtv.org

Otherwise, residents are encouraged to monitor the City website, Channel 17 and local television and radio stations for up-to-date information about winter parking bans.

Violation of Parking Bans:  Those who park on the street in violation of a Winter Parking Ban, Maintenance Parking Ban, or Emergency Parking Ban are subject to having their vehicles towed and impounded at their expense, as well as a $100.00 ticket.
