Heights Station
Heights Station Engine 7The current facility, which was dedicated on August 13, 1966, replaced the former Plains Station and consolidated services from the former East Concord Station on Eastman Street. The station is currently the oldest fire station in the city. In 1976 an addition increased the size of the building, and the station’s living quarters underwent a cosmetic renovation in 2012.

Staffing and Our District
The Heights Station, also known as Station 7, is located in the Concord Heights District. The station houses Engine 7 and Ambulance 7, and protects a first-due area that essentially encompasses the entire city, east of Interstate 93, and north to the area of Sewalls Falls Road. This large geographic area includes the Concord Municipal Airport, two United States military installations, the New Hampshire Technical Institute, extensive industrial and retail areas, and a large residential population. The Heights District also includes the Merrimack and Soucook Rivers, Interstate 93 from Exits 14 through 17, and the majority of Interstate 393.

With one of the department’s four battalions (shifts) on duty at all times, the Heights Station is staffed by five members, 24 hours each day. Engine Co. 7 consists of one company officer (a captain, paramedic-lieutenant, or lieutenant) and two firefighter / emergency medical technicians or firefighter / paramedics. Ambulance Co. 7 is staffed with one firefighter / paramedic and one firefighter / emergency medical technician.

Apparatus
Engine 7 is a 2008 HME / Ahrens Fox equipped with a 2000 gallon per minute pump and a 750 gallon water tank. Ambulance 7 is a 2008 Chevrolet / Braun medium duty advanced life support rescue / ambulance. Additional apparatus in the Heights Station includes Forestry 7 which is a 2008 Ford F-350 pick-up truck and Boat 7 which is a 12 foot rigid-hull Zodiac Pro inflatable boat with a 40 horsepower Yamaha outboard motor. A reserve ambulance is also assigned to this station.

Serving Our Community
Each year, Station 7’s crews participate in numerous fire prevention activities to include school visits and station tours in which we take the opportunity to speak with the younger citizens of our community about fire safety. It is not uncommon during the summer months to see visitors in front of the station when our bay doors open. You are always welcome to come by. In the winter, we participate in the annual Christmas Parade that runs down Loudon Road. Engine 7 is always dressed for the occasion in lights and a wreath.
