Parking Enforcement

Parking Sign

Sound parking enforcement is important to the health, safety and economic vitality of the City.  Our dedicated and productive enforcement staff is the heart of our effective parking enforcement program.  A well designed enforcement effort enables the City to maximize its use of the existing parking supply.

Strategic Parking Plan Development
In June 2014, the City engaged the consultant team of Nelson Nygaard / Desman Associates to develop a comprehensive strategic parking plan for the City.  The strategic plan, together with a staff report from the City Administration detailing specific recommendations and an implementation schedule, was presented to the City Parking Committee on June 27, 2016.

The Parking Committee will review and evaluate the study's recommendations throughout the summer of 2016 and into the early fall (see the 2016 schedule of meetings and workshops).  As part of the review process, the Parking Committee may choose to accept, modify, or discard any of the proposed recommendations.  Once the committee completes its review, it will forward the strategic plan to the City Council for final review.

For more information about the strategic parking plan, please contact Matthew R. Walsh, Director of Redevelopment, Downtown Services & Special Projects, at or (603) 225-8570.
