Spring Road Load Limits

The City of Concord will begin posting "No Trucking - Load Limit 9 Tons" signs early this year starting on February 26, 2018, as warmer temperatures have already started the spring thaw. Road damage naturally occurs this time of year from the frequent thawing and freezing cycles, but heavy weight on weakened roads can cause additional harm. The City of Concord is posting load limits set to 9 tons to protect streets from any potential damage from heavy vehicles. Visit www.concordnh.gov/springoperations for a list of streets posted through the spring season.

Fix A Leak Week

Fix A Leak Week (March 19-25, 2018) is a national annual event held by EPA WaterSense to encourage water consumers to find and fix household water leaks to save water, energy, and potentially even money on utility bills. Celebrate Fix A Leak Week by being a leak detective and checking for leaks in the kitchen, bathroom, laundry room, basement, and even outside. Get a Toilet Leak Dye Test Kit at our water billing office at 311 North State Street to perform a quick and easy leak test on your toilet. Enter our Royal Leak Detection contest by March 23, 2018 for a chance to win a new "throne" (WaterSense labeled toilet)! WaterSense labeled products are certified to use at least 20% less water, save energy, and perform as well (or better than) regular models. Find more information at www.concordnh.gov/leaks

Concord General Services Divisions

Routine maintenance and inspections are performed on City vehicles and equipment to keep the City's fleet safe and in serviceable condition.

City owned and public community facilities are maintained on a regular basis to keep areas clean, safe, and in operable condition. Some of the public properties maintained include the Municipal Complex, community centers, community swimming pools, parking garages, and the Douglas N. Everett Arena (municipal arena also managed within this division).

Street maintenance and repair are significant responsibilities of our Highways and Utilities Division. Potholes, paving, existing signs, sidewalks, water distribution, sewer collection, snow plowing operations, dead animal removal, fall leaf collection, and the Sustainable Tree Program are all responsibilities of the Highways and Utilities Division. Street lights are maintained by Unitil and traffic lights are maintained by Concord Fire Department.

The City of Concord contracts trash and recycling services with Casella. The City uses a pay-as-you-throw program for curbside trash collection to encourage the practice of reducing waste and increasing recycling. Recycling is single-stream and does not need to be sorted for curbside collection.

Concord water is sourced from Penacook Lake, treated at our Water Treatment Plant, and distributed throughout the city to provide drinking water that exceeds EPA standards. Residents connected to the City's water distribution system pay for these services through their utility bill.

The City's sewer collection system collects and delivers all wastewater to our wastewater treatment facilities. Wastewater is processed to protect the community's health and environment. Water and biosolids are recovered through this process to provide sustainable practices. Residents connected to the City's sewer system pay for these services through their utility bill.
